Solar-generated process heat – ecological, economical, future-oriented

Solar-generated process heat is the most sustainable form of energy recovery in terms of environment, resources and availibility. The Parabolic trough technology of Solarlite CSP converts the direct solar radiation into useful thermal energy. Solarlite CSP is using direct steam generation with parabolic trough system, which allows higher operating temperatures up to 400°C. This matches the needs in many industrial processes perfectly. Nearly two third of the overall energy demand required by industries is needed as process heat. Due to the heavily fluctuating and rising energy prices solar-generated process heat offers budgeting reliability and significant cost savings.

District heating / cooling

Concentrated solar thermal power (CSP) is already being used in local heating plants in Denmark. Due to the higher temperatures and the higher efficiency, parabolic troughs are ideally suited to supply therml energy in storage systems. In the near future, parabolic troughs will also be found more frequently in this application in Europe too.

Parabolic troughs are particularly suitable in warmer areas to be implemented in so-called district cooling systems. The high efficiency makes this approach economical and is particularly recommended for larger units.

Solar generated process steam for EOR

How an oil company is increasing oil production and saving energy costs at the same time

An international oil production company faces the peak of production rate in one oil field in the Arabian Peninsula soon. In order to keep up the oil production rates the company decides to invest in Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) technology by injecting steam and extend the field?s lifetime. Along with thermal EOR goes a significantly increased energy demand and hence further environmental impacts. Since steam flooding EOR nearly doubles the oil production costs, the company is looking to reduce the operation expenditures significantly. [...]

Process heat for chemical industry

How a chemical group is saving costs with the sun:

An international chemical group manufactures products used for the treatment of water and other liquefied media at their production facility in India. In view of the growing demand of liquefied separation products, the company will expand its production site. The share of energy costs in relation to the total manufacturing costs is already extraordinarily high and will further increase with the expansion. Due to the constantly fluctuating and rising price of gas, the lack of stability in supply and the call for an ecological economy, the issue of energy is a priority for the company. [...]
